Our History

WHERE IT
ALL STARTED

Bendigo CU exists because students wanted a place to follow Jesus together during their university years. They began meeting to read the Bible, pray, and encourage one another to live out their faith in lectures, tutorials, and everyday campus life.

From the outset, students have taken the lead — shaping the group’s culture, inviting friends, and helping one another speak about Jesus with clarity and kindness. As part of AFES, Bendigo CU is connected to other student groups around Australia, while remaining focused on the unique opportunities and challenges of life at La Trobe Bendigo.

Today, students continue to lead Bendigo CU, as they seek to know Jesus better and make him known on campus.

AFES?

Our group is part of AFES, the Australian Fellowship of Evangelical Students, a national community of students discovering Jesus together. All AFES groups across Australia stand in the same grace of God, the same gospel of Christ. Being part of this wider community means we’re connected to other campus groups, supported by experienced staff, and able to be part of something bigger than ourselves.
